Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a former physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police are urging individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
