Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
