Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to manage Liverpool is conceivable.
Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Anfield in 2024, indicated that returning someday remains something that could happen. The 58-year-old, post a game-changing near-decade reign that included a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown in 30 years, now holds positions overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
Liverpool won England's top flight last season, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would be thrilled by the possibility that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I stated I refuse to lead another team in England. Therefore in case it's my former club...yes. It's plausible.”
“At 58 years old, so I might decide down the line, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? In that case, I'd stay away. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Questioned regarding which situations would have to unfold to bring him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be under bad weather for lengthy sessions; I don’t miss going to press conferences four times, three times a week or constant media duties each week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, however, dining out with the players talking freely, that’s nice. Success was frequent so there was often great spirits at the club. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh ringing in my ears to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
Klopp was full of praise of the current boss, acknowledging his role due to the changes that took the title in the previous season. They've been defeated four consecutive matches across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the suggestion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. Ekitike, incredible player. This is a well-built balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota
The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, along with the consequences at the club. The Portugal international was killed in a vehicle collision together with his sibling recently.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It’s not about his on-field talent, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the squad missing him. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for all the boys also. No one within the club would cite it for poor performances though it's a fact. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Coping with it individually is difficult. Impossible.”
