Vince Zampella, who helped create the immensely successful first-person shooter Call of Duty, has passed away in a car accident in Los Angeles, California at the age of 55.

The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the development studio he co-founded.

The celebrated game designer passed away following his vehicle was involved in a crash and caught fire on a motorway in LA on Sunday, according to.
